Notes From Rick

We went over the plans room by room with Rick and here the highlights that we would like to implement in the new house.

1. Consider heating options for under the front walk way..  protects guest from slipping, and eliminates lots of mess into the house on party nights.

2. Lighting Soffits:  Rick points out that high ceilings are a great place to consider soffits with rope lighting. He knows that we prefer gentle mood lighting..  Let's think about rooms where this could be implemented.  Over the bed in the master springs immediatly to mind.

3. Speaking of the master bedroom.  WOOD CEILINGS...  We love the wood ceilings on the island.. and the wood ceiling in the studo on Deer Isle.  We both think we'd like wood ceilings in the master suite.

4.  Storage underneath stairs?  Is there  any opportunity for this in the 'tower' building?

5.  Speaking of lighting...  Rick highly recommends Lutron lighting systems.

6. BRILLIANT was all I could say when  Rick pointed out the obvious in the master bathroom.  Let's separate the his and hers sinks and put the sit-down vanity area BETWEEN them.  That gives each person some elbow room.. and provides all kinds of great decorating options.

7.  More for the master bath..  recessed lighting in the toilet area..  and lighting under the vanity area that lights the floor

8.  Rick's BIGGEST idea has really hit a cord with us.  Michael is still mulliing.. but we are considering closing in the deck off of Michael's office and making it a lovely 'glass' corner...  That will be a killer view..  we have lots of decks.. Michael could get more use of the extra office space AND the spectacular views if that was enclosed.

Rick will be chiming in from time to time.  He has great ideas.. and so much experience to separate the practical from the impractical.  Thanks Rick  Keep them coming
